Thanksgiving
I have so much to be thankful for this year, and without going into too many sappy details and a lengthy list (I'll spare you), I thought I'd just do my top 5 things I am thankful for this Thanksgiving, with a little details about our holiday mixed in. So here it goes.
5. Scooter.
After Scooter's attack last week, I cannot even begin to express how thankful I am for my pup AND that he is still here. He brings so much joy into our family (and, as I've learned over the past week, into many others' lives as well!) that I can't imagine life without him. I know he won't live forever, so I am so thankful for each and every day we get to spend with him and get to enjoy his feisty little dachshund/terrier company.
A side note Scooter update: Scoots had a fantastic Thanksgiving--he got to play with his puppy cousins Molly and Cinder and really is getting back to his old self. We think he may have overdone it on Thanksgiving though, because one of his drain holes has been leaking (ickkkk!) the past day or so. So he's been put on house rest the next few days so his wounds can heal up all the way.
4. Jobs, home, and finances.
I am so thankful that both Mike and I have jobs that we love, a home in a city that we love (and grew up in), and finances (thank you jobs!) that allow us to do the things we enjoy doing. I think a lot of times I take for granted having a job I enjoy and having a home that we own to come home to. I am really trying to appreciate each and every little thing with that because I know others aren't as fortunate to have what we have (which is why I try and pay things forward as much as I can!). I am thankful that I was able to go Black Friday shopping (95% online!) today and be able to get some Christmas presents for our friends and family...as well as the 5% of real shopping I did to score Patrick a new Jules BumGenius cloth diaper. OMG. I'm in love with this dipe (and refused to pay the $75+ it was going for on the cloth diaper buy/sell/trade Facebook pages because it's so hard to find)--I was able to go to Cotton Babies this morning and grab one during their Black Friday sale, so I am very thankful for that! I mean, come on, how cute is this dipe?!! Patrick is totally smitten with it.
3. My health.
Again, something I take for granted and need to stop doing, but I am very thankful for my health. Despite my not-seasonal-just-year-round allergies, I am a very healthy lady, and I am very thankful for that. I know I could exercise more and eat better, but I'm pretty darn happy in the skin I'm in and where I'm at in my life. I'm thankful I'm well enough to provide for my family and myself, and keep #2 cookin' (more on that next) for hopefully another 18 weeks! I really attribute the way I've been feeling lately to the Juice Plus I've been taking. I know I sound like a broken record with this, but I swear it has made all the difference in the world in how I'm feeling.
2. #2 cookin' away in the oven.
I posted this pic yesterday saying how thankful I am for being 21 weeks pregnant with #2! Oh, how spot on this is: I am so thankful that our family will be welcoming a new little man or lady in 4 short months, and that he/she is cooking well and looking all around healthy at every doctor's visit. I really am thankful (and enjoying!) every part of this pregnancy and really savoring it, because, who knows, it could be my last! I am thankful for my health and a body that can carry another human until he/she is ready to make his/her entrance into the world.
1. Family and friends.
I could literally go on for A LONG TIME about how thankful I am for family and friends. Seriously, it would be a really long post if I let myself do that...but I'll spare you and give you the cliffsnotes version :)
I am so incredibly thankful for an amazing and loving husband (I mean, he works 12+ hours and then brings ME home donuts for breakfast!!) who, sometimes, I have no idea why I deserve someone as amazing as he is. He is my best friend, my rational sense of being, and my rock. He's the best baby daddy I know, and is so good to our little boy. He has no problem cleaning up the nastiest of diapers or tucking in Patrick to bed. It melts my heart to see him with our little guy. I don't know what I'd do without him and for that I am so incredibly thankful (and trying to remind myself when I get irritated that he didn't put the laundry away, or something like that :)
My little man is the best kid ever (biased, I know), and although I wonder if #2 will get as much love and attention as Patrick gets, I know he/she will fit right into my heart given just as much love and affection as his/her older brother gets! I cherish each moment I get to spend with my little guy and savor the moments like these (which are far a few between) when a certain someone wants to cuddle with me. I love him so, and I cannot wait to see the little boy (and man!) he grows up to be!
My family is amazing. Plain and simple. Each and every one of them, from my mom to my sister-in-law to my great aunt would do anything for me, and I do anything for them. There is so much love and support (with both the Mooney and Pepin sides) that it is overflowing. I was addressing out our Christmas cards today and was shocked by how many family members I HAD to include to send a card--there was a lot! That's just how many mean the world to us, and we love them so!
My friends: ahhhh, where would I be without them?!! They are incredible, even if they are thousands of miles away (thank you text messaging!). I love that I can call or text them at any time with any question (even a TMI one) and they don't hesitate to respond. There's nothing I wouldn't do for them and I appreciate all of them so much in my life. Chances are if you're reading this post I'm talking about you! Yes, even virtual friends who we've never met in person but I feel like we could be BFFs instantly: I am so thankful for YOU!
Okay, that ends my very thankful, very sappy post. Gahhh, I don't do these a lot (especially not preggo) and now I know why: I'm all emotional and sentimental typing this post up! Ha! I hope you've enjoyed it, and I really mean it: if you're reading this I'm so thankful for YOU. Thanks for being there for me! :)
